The story behind the ShoreLink Terminal

The former Bottenvikens Stuveri has a history from four locations that merged into one company.

1928 was formed Piteå Stuveri Aktiebolag. The company would load and unload ships within the Piteå area. Back then it was exclusively about ship work. The work was manual heavy physical labor without any mechanical aids.

In 1968, the company merged with Luleå Stuveri and changed its name to Bottenvikens Stuveri AB. In 1973, the business was moved from the harbor in central Piteå to Haraholmen, located 15 km outside the center of Piteå. All handling in central Piteå and the industrial ports at Lövholmen Sawmill and SCA's paper mill in Munksund ceased. Loading and unloading of forest products has consistently been the main business, but the business has gradually grown to also include transshipment, storage and transport.

Lulea Stuveri was founded in 1938. The company merged in 1968 with Stuveriet in Piteå under the common name Bottenvikens Stuveri AB. Norrbotten's Järnverk, which was expanded and expanded after the Second World War, brought about a large increase in goods mainly from the ironworks, while at the same time piece goods, paper pulp and wood products decreased. In the middle of the 70s, the coking plant was built and as a natural consequence Victoriahamnen took shape. In the mid-80s, the SSAB quay was mothballed and all of SSAB's shipping operations were moved to Victoria Harbor.

Until 1922 was Skellefteå Stewardship company, essentially the company that serviced the shipping industry Skellefteå- area. On the initiative of the Swedish Shipowners' Association, the competitor Norra Västerbottens Stuveribolag was formed. This included a number of larger companies as owners. As early as 1923, Norra Västerbotten Stuveri was the dominant company, and in 1924 ceased Skellefteå Stewardship company to exist. With the addition of the smelter at Rönnskär, ship traffic intensified in Skellefteåthe region and the flow of goods increased sharply. Before that, the large quantities consisted mainly of forest products. With the smelter, handling shifted more and more to dealing with goods to and from production, as well as shipping finished products. The work was mostly done manually with few mechanical resources. In 1970 Bottenvikens Stuveri AB acquired all shares in Norra Västerbottens Stuveribolag.

I Kalix started CO Hallman Stuveri in 1889. In 1961 Paul Hallman transformed the company into a limited company. In 1987, the company was bought by Bottenvikens Stuveri AB.

Loading and unloading of forest products has consistently been the primary handling in the port. In recent years, it has expanded its operations with warehouse management and transshipments.
