On October 14, people interested in logistics gathered in Norr- and Västerbotten to listen to interesting lectures about our infrastructure.
Infrastructure can be compared to the bloodstream that makes the heart (business/society) pump. Infrastructure investments are a share of GDP, and have been halved since the 1960s. This has resulted in today's debt being around SEK 300 billion. Minister of Infrastructure, Catharina Elmsäter-Svärd, believes that there is a difficult economic distribution between the different parts of the country, where all counties feel they are receiving too little money. The northern counties are allocated 3,4% of the SEK 190 billion invested in infrastructure, excluding the double track of the Ore Line or the Norrbothnia Line, which is missing from the national transport plan.
Susanne Jangdal, CEO of ShoreLink, together with Ulrika Nilsson of Piteå Port, spoke about the great potential of shipping for the future's increasing transport. "There is endless untapped potential with cost-effective and environmentally friendly solutions, which many people are not aware of. The ports are a logistics hub for all transport solutions," Susanne and Ulrika conclude.
