We are beginning to summarize an incredibly exciting year with several new projects and deals as well as high activity in our daily work. This requires, just as always, that we look up to see what is happening around the world and what can affect ShoreLink and its operations. We need to think big in order for the operations to develop and improve in small ways.
When we have raised our sights and thought big in our business, it feels natural to do the same when it comes to this year's Christmas gift. Every day we receive reports about how the war in Syria and Iraq is forcing millions of people to flee. They risk their lives, often at sea, to give their children and themselves a chance to survive.
We have therefore chosen to donate SEK 75 to UNHCR instead of giving Christmas presents this year to help refugees. On behalf of the UN, UNHCR leads the work of protecting people fleeing war and persecution. They are located along, among other things, the escape routes from Iraq and Syria where they distribute emergency aid. Our contribution is enough for a little more than 000 emergency packages (excluding administrative costs) that give a refugee a package with food, water, blanket, towel, dry clothes and shoes. In this way, our 255 employees have given away a little more than one emergency package per person.

We are also donating 15 SEK to the House of Heroes.
... which is a family home connected to Norrland Regional Hospital in Umeå. The house will be built and completed in 2016/2017 and will be a temporary home for families with children where someone has suffered from a long-term illness. It will be almost like home and makes it easier to play with friends where health can be the focus. A temporary home near the hospital where the family can cook, have Friday fun and receive visits from loved ones.
