Since the start of the concession in Victoria Harbour in Luleå in April, ShoreLink Terminal in Luleå has focused a lot on the work environment and safety.
- It has been important to have a holistic approach now that we are responsible for the entire operation and all personnel, says site manager Christer Garberg.
Previously, ShoreLink has been active in the port, but for example, did not have responsibility for cranes, crane operators and mooring of boats, which is now included.
During this time, we have had a strong focus on training and information, so that all employees receive the same basic knowledge about safety and the work environment. Several training courses have been carried out, such as basic work environment training, rope and signalman training and the current fall protection training. Training on the newly purchased rescue equipment for rescue from cranes is planned for January.
Rescue practice

In October, a regular rescue exercise was carried out together with the fire service. This resulted, among other things, in a new, more modern stretcher being installed in the rescue container and all cranes and most vehicles now being equipped with first aid kits. Rappelling equipment for the cranes has also been purchased.
"There are risky aspects to our work and we absolutely want to avoid accidents and incidents," Christer continues. That's why we conduct rescue drills regularly to be prepared for different scenarios.
