ShoreLink will conduct training in Piteå and Luleå for port workers, in collaboration with the Swedish Vocational Academy and the Swedish Public Employment Service. A total of 40 people will be offered a place in the training, half to each location.
"Our business is growing and we want to ensure that we have access to competent personnel," says ShoreLink CEO Susanne Jangdal. This, combined with great competition for labor in the transport sector and the fact that there are no fully trained dock workers on the labor market, means that we are starting this training.
The business is growing overall in both Piteå and Luleå, where wind power in Piteå is a major contributor. The 2019 wind power project will probably come in February, and the first round of training is expected to be completed by then.
"We hope that many girls will take advantage of the opportunity and want to train. It is important that we get more women working with us, as the industry is traditionally very male-dominated," continues Susanne Jangdal.
Before the places on the training are filled, information sessions will be held via the employment agency, on 16 October in Piteå and 28 November in Luleå. Representatives from ShoreLink will be on site to meet all interested parties. The training itself is 12 weeks and several elements are workplace-based at ShoreLink's operations in Victoriahamnen and on Haraholmen.
