On 2 November, the agreement for the new port section was signed at Piteå Port & Hub on Haraholmen. The agreement is valid from 1 September 2021 to 31 August 2028.
- It is great fun that together with Piteå Harbor we can now create the development and growth for the port and customers that can only happen with one and the same operator for the entire area, says Susanne Jangdal, CEO ShoreLink. We can create good coordination effects when resources in the form of machines and personnel can be used over the entire area of the port.
- Expectations were high before the procurement of an operator for the new port section. ShoreLink meets the high requirements and has good conditions to develop the operation of the new port part in collaboration with us as infrastructure owners to the benefit of the region's companies, says Ulrika Nilsson, CEO Piteå hamn.
The extended part of the quay is 115 meters and means that the entire quay is now 720 metres. The new quay section has a significantly higher capacity for heavy lifting and means increased flexibility for the entire operation, as well as the possibility of receiving more ships.
The new port section, which covers a total of approximately 60 square meters, is adjacent to the port's railway terminal and provides opportunities for more intermodal logistics solutions. After the expansion, operations at Piteå Port & Hub have more than 000 square meters of operating space.
- The new port part is part of the company's development plan, which includes investments totaling approximately SEK 250 million in recent years. With the new port section, the company has good capacity to meet the increased transport needs and the development we see in the region, concludes Ulrika Nilsson, CEO Piteå hamn.
-In addition to the possibilities with the new quay section, there is also great potential in developing the flow of goods in the large area created with the existing area and the new one, continues Susanne Jangdal. It is large areas that are added and provide opportunities for additional storage of goods to make it easier for customers.
ShoreLink is already the operator of the port in the part of the port that was built starting in 1973, when the port was moved from the city center.
- We are really happy and look forward to continued good cooperation that creates development, concludes Susanne.
