Today we transported for the first time direct reduced iron (DRI), manufactured using HYBRIT technology. These are small iron pellets, which were driven to our warehouse in Victoria Harbour. The sponge iron, as it is also called, will be stored for a while before being shipped onward.
For the transport, we used our truck with environmentally friendly fuel from the ShoreLink Transport business area in Piteå. Our regular operations in Luleå do not currently include transport with our own trucks, but it was easily arranged with good cooperation within the group.
-We have close contact within the group and can often find good solutions to various challenges, says Anders Viljeros, business area manager ShoreLink Terminal Nord.
Our wheel loader, which loaded the iron sponge onto the truck, has very low diesel consumption and thus very low carbon dioxide emissions.
-With every machinery investment we make, the environmental impact is a very important factor, concludes Anders Viljeros.
