Together for a safer working environment

Together with Piteå Port and Hub and Green Cargo, we have increased safety at the railway crossing at Haraholmen's port area in Piteå by installing both barriers and lights.

"It is thanks to a very good collaboration that we can make these improvements," says ShoreLink's CEO Peter Mörtlund. The systematic work environment work of all parties has been the foundation of the work.

A railway line runs through the port area and the number of trains passing through is low. Therefore, the requirements for the transition are that only so-called cross marks should be present. Piteå Port and Hub has previously supplemented this with, among other things, automatic speed radar and information. Several risk observations have been submitted over a longer period, which has led the parties to discuss different solutions together.

"We are pleased to have been able to contribute and participate in ensuring good security within the port area," says Ulrika Nilsson, CEO of Piteå Port and Hub. It also supports the development of rail freight traffic, which is an important part of intermodal traffic within port operations.

Before the train passes the crossing, the train driver now presses a button and the barrier is lowered.

-The work to improve the work environment at the level crossing in the Haraholmen port area has been ongoing for some time, after several serious incidents were reported into our Synergy system and in systematic work environment work we have done together in good cooperation with Shorelink and Piteå Port and Hub. I and the employees are satisfied with the solution where barriers and light signals have been installed at the level crossing, which significantly reduces the risks when the switching movements pass the level crossing, says Lars Värnberg, Group Manager Green Cargo.

We are grateful for the good cooperation and that we all contribute to a safer working environment.
