Growth and confidence in the future are present in northern Sweden. With growth comes a major challenge in finding workers. That's why several employers in Piteå are joining forces in a unique recruitment event for returnees, in the middle of the holiday sale.
-We generally have low unemployment in the county, one of the lowest in the country. Competence is needed in principle in all professional areas and the demand for labor is already high today and is expected to rise in the future, says Jörgen Pekkari, business advisor at the Swedish Public Employment Service.
Knowing that many expatriate Piteå residents visit their hometown during Christmas and New Year, the recruitment event will be held on December 28, in the middle of the holiday sale.
- We hope that returnees will become returnees so that both the labor market and Piteå grow, says Åsa Rundgren, HR Manager Smurfit Kappa Piteå.
At the event, visitors will meet IVAB, PiteEnergi, Piteå Municipality, Piteå Science Park, ShoreLink, Smurfit Kappa Piteå, Sparbanken Nord and Wibax.

The need for labor is expected to be great in the coming years and there is a risk that employers in Piteå will end up competing for the same people.
- Wibax is in an expansive phase and aims to increase by 200 employees over the next six years, says Annica Pettersson, Chief Human Resources, Wibax Group.
