Last Sunday, a groundbreaking event in maritime transport was presented when Electramar arrived at the Port of Luleå. This 90-meter long and 16-meter wide vessel represents a new technological breakthrough. As a plug-in hybrid dry cargo ship, Electramar carries with it the promise of a greener future for shipping and upcoming environmental requirements.
Anders Viljeros, Business Area Manager at ShoreLink Luleå
“For ShoreLink, Electramar is not just a ship, it is a Lego piece in the quest to become Sweden's most efficient and sustainable port operator by 2030. Thanks to close collaboration with AtoB@C Shipping and DSV, this vision has now taken a significant step forward.
Frida Rowland, Commercial Director, AtoB@C Shipping:
"We are extremely pleased to finally have the first ship in its home waters ready to serve our customers. With the new ship series, we offer our customers a better environmental profile and through battery operation, our ships can, for example, enter and exit ports both emission-free and without noise and vibration."
The arrival of Electramar marks the beginning of a new era in maritime transport, where innovation and sustainability go hand in hand to create a more sustainable future. It is a step in the right direction towards reducing our impact on the environment while promoting economic growth and development. With AtoB@C Shipping and other like-minded players at the forefront, it is clear that the future of shipping is more sustainable than ever before.
